Symposiumdas Internationale Städteforum Graz (ISG), das in der Schweiz viele Mitglieder hat, veranstaltet gemeinsam mit der Stadt Graz und der TU Graz am 1./2. Juli 2011 ein internationales Symposium zum Thema
"Denkmalpflege - Baukultur - Tourismus"
mit Referentinnen und Referenten aus Deutschland, der Schweiz und Österreich!
Historische Städte und Bauten zählen weltweit zu den beliebtesten Reisezielen. Um die historische Baukultur zu erhalten und für den Tourismus nutzen zu können, bedarf es jedoch der Denkmalpflege, die sich abseits aller wirtschaftlichen Interessen für die Erhaltung der historischen Bauten einsetzt. Ihren Highlights ist die mediale Aufmerksamkeit und damit die erfolgreiche touristische Vermarktung gewiß.
Für kleinere baukulturelle Zeugnisse ist es jedoch schwer, wirtschaftliche Kriterien mit den Ansprüchen der Denkmalpflege und einer adäquaten Nachnutzung zu verbinden. Das Symposium des ISG präsentiert Beispiele und Wege, wie Denkmalpflege, Architektur und Tourismus voneinander profitieren können und neben den berühmten Prachtbauten auch innovative regionale Projekte zur Erhaltung der historischen Architektur in sanftem Tourismus eine Basis finden.
